Following the discovery of a fragile, hand-colored copy of Georges Méliès' A Trip to the Moon in the 1990s, Lobster Films, the Groupama Gan Foundation for Cinema, and the Technicolor Foundation for Cinema Heritage undertook a complex 2010 restoration project. Utilizing advanced digital technology to reassemble 13,375 frames, the team restored the 1902 masterpiece 110 years after its debut. Additionally, AIR's Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel composed a new soundtrack for the restored film.
